Disaster Response Update
Dear Jason,

Over the past few days, severe storms have caused major flooding across the Gulf Coast. Heavy rain has impacted many communities in Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee and the conditions are expected to continue over the next couple of days. The American Red Cross is providing comfort kits, shelter, food and casework as well as support services to residents impacted by this severe weather – last night, the Red Cross had 18 shelters open in these states that saw more than 430 overnight stays.

If you or a loved one live in an impacted area, your safety is important to us. There are key steps you can take to stay safe during the rain, and critical precautions to keep in mind as the waters recede and you begin to return home. Take the first step to stay safe and build a plan for picking up the pieces after the rain abates by downloading the Red Cross Emergency app or viewing flooding response and recovery tips.

Across the country, disasters big and small happen every day and Red Cross volunteers are there to provide support. From emergencies like hurricanes or floods to home fires, the Red Cross is there to help impacted families with essentials like warm meals, a place to stay, and clean up kits – plus guidance on how to take the next steps to recover. Your support can ensure we have trained volunteers and resources ready to go today and every day. Make a donation to Red Cross Disaster Relief today.
